7 Air has carried out its inaugural test flight as it continues to prepare for the launch of operations.

The US company, which is currently undertaking the certification process to become a specialised cargo carrier, said in a LinkedIn post that the test flight took place on Thursday 23 January.

”The inaugural test flight for 7Air began today as the Boeing 737-800 departed from Miami, FL early afternoon to Dallas, TX,” said the Miami-headquartered airline, owned by The Xtreme Group (TXG).

According to Planespotters, 7 Air has two Boeing 737-800 freighters, both passenger to freighter (P2F) conversions. The first 737-800P2F, registered N782AC, was delivered in April last year and the second was delivered in September last year.

Flightradar24 data confirmed the N782AC-registered 737-800 carried out a return flight from Miami (MIA) to Fort Worth Alliance Airport (AFW) on 23 January.

Air Cargo News reported in September 2023 that 7 Air initially planned to launch regional cargo services in the first quarter of 2024. The airline planned to add four 737Fs.

The airline’s services will include ACMI, CMI, full charters, scheduled charters and ad-hoc charters.

As well as undergoing certification, the airline said on its website that it is also developing specialised handling facilities and logistics systems to accommodate various types of cargo.

It is also working to establish partnerships with cargo operators, ground handling agents, and freight forwarders to build its network.

7 Air Cargo’s management team includes chief executive Amasvido Rodriguez and vice president of commercial operations and partner Carlos Cock.
