Mammoth Freighters and Aspire MRO have installed the main cargo door on their 777-300ERMF freighter conversion.

The milestone was announced by Fort Worth, Texas-based freighter conversion company Mammoth in a LinkedIn post on 26 February.

"Mammoth and Aspire MRO are proud to have reached another significant milestone with the installation of the main cargo door on the 777-300ERMF freighter. This marks another step towards completing the -300ERMF conversion and attaining STC certification,” said Mammoth.

Mammoth cut the first door on its inaugural 777-300ERMF freighter conversion in August 2024.

The large maindeck cargo door is designed to be 16 inches wider than the 777F, to allow for a variety of cargo shipments.

Leasing firm AviaAM Leasing was revealed as the launch customer for Mammoth's 777-300ER (ERMF) freighter conversion programme in 2022, after signing up for six of the aircraft.

Mammoth then inducted the first of the six aircraft for conversion in October 2023.

Brian McCarthy, vice president of marketing and sales at Mammoth told Air Cargo News last year that Mammoth expects the first Avia 300ER to enter service in summer 2025. Two more 300ERs are due to enter into the production lines in 2025 and a further two in 2026. All six aircraft are due to be delivered by mid-2027.

Mammoth Freighters was founded in 2020 to design, develop, convert, and support the development of passenger-to-freighter conversions. The launch type is the Boeing 777 (both the 200 LR and 300 ER variants).

There are currently three 777-300ER conversion programmes in place with IAI, KMC and Mammoth, in addition to the 777-200LR programme in development with Mammoth.
