Freight forwarder Topocean Group has re-branded its air division as it looks to give its air business a clearer identity.

The US-based company, which celebrates its 30 year anniversary this year, already has Topocean, Topland Logistics and Topland Trucking businesses and decided it now made sense to give its air business its own identity - Topair Global Logisitcs - rather than continuing to operate under the Topocean brand.

The new Topair Global Logistics business is led by Jonathan Tolentino, general manager of global airfreight, who brings nearly two decades of industry experience with international logistics providers and air cargo carriers.

“We have had airfreight since inception, but a lot of people have no idea that we have been doing airfreight,” Tolentino said.

The Topocean Group is 90% owned by Kerry Logistics Network, which is ranked as the world’s 11th largest airfreight forwarder according to consultant Armstrong and Associates.

The new brand will continue to use the same SCAC code, DOT numbers and IATA numbers.

It will be headquartered in Chicago to leverage ”the city’s role as a key air cargo hub”, the company explained.

Andy Wang, chief executive of The Topocean Group, said: “The launch of Topair Global Logistics is more than a rebrand; it’s a commitment to advancing our airfreight services.”
