Airport operator Fraport is teaming up with logistics start-up lab HAUS61 to develop new technology for the airfreight industry.
From April 2019, up to six recently launched logistics companies will come together in the HAUS61 lab, which will provide a network for regional startups and established companies in the logistics industry, such as Fraport, with the aim of promoting creativity and new ideas.
The concept behind HAUS61 is to encourage interaction between young businesses and logistics experts. Workshops will provide practical advice, while regular pitch meetings will offer space for sharing feedback and exchanging ideas.
"Startups and the industry’s big players can work together to further strengthen the position of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region as a leading freight and logistics location," Fraport said.
Max Philipp Conrady, senior vice president of cargo at Fraport, said: “Working together as partners, we can introduce our own project ideas and put them into practice together with the startups. As Europe’s largest freight airport we will benefit from this collaboration because we can gain an early insight into all the latest innovations.”
The HAUS61 startup lab was founded in Frankfurt by German software company CargoSteps. The firm offers logistics service providers such as courier drivers a solution for tracking consignments.
