Xpediator has acquired fellow UK freight operator Anglia Forwarding Group, including its Heathrow Airport branch.

Stephen Blyth, chief executive of Xpediator which specialises in road services to and from East Europe under the Delamode brand along with online delivery services, said that that Anglia’s airfreight office at Heathrow, combined with its longstanding position as global partner to United Shipping since 1988 would be a valuable addition “and will significantly increase our access into the key markets of America and China”.

Anglia Forwarding has a main base in Rainham, Essex, with other branches in Birmingham and Felixstowe.

The forwarder offers sea and airfreight services to the US, China and Europe, along with trans- European road routes.

The purchase, for an initial cash payment £1.5m, plus a further £700,000 payment on completion and a deferred cash consideration of up to £2m by May 2020, will give Xpediator Group ten sites in the UK and 11 in Europe, employing a total of 781 people.

Anglia Forwarding Group chief executive, Peter Tough added: “Since its foundation in 1971, Anglia has grown to be a highly successful international forwarder offering a high standard of service to clients. By becoming part of Xpediator Group we will be able to make use of being part of a larger group to expand our business and provide additional services to our existing client base.”
