The San Bernardino International Airport Authority and FedEx Express have agreed to begin regular scheduled air cargo flights into the hub.
In conjunction with the new daily flights, which will begin in October, FedEx will occupy a 57,000 sq ft facility under a 10-year agreement.
"The activity at SBD International Airport will enhance the company’s air cargo network in the region, with plans to add dozens of new jobs," the airport said in a statement.
UPS also uses the US airport, which is located 60 miles east of Los Angeles along the I-10 corridor.
"With growing activity and convenient access to three major interstate highways (I-10, I-210 and I-215), air cargo operators like FedEx Express will be able to expedite deliveries to end users and consumers," the statement said.
"The airport’s location, combined with newly-expanded state-of-the-art infrastructure, offers significant air cargo opportunities to the logistics industry."
Carey Davis, Mayor of the City of San Bernardino, and president of the San Bernardino International Airport Authority, added: “We are very excited to have FedEx expand flight operations into SBD International Airport. The Airport continues to serve as a major contributor to the economic growth in San Bernardino.”
