Operations at Dubai International Airport resumed on Wednesday at 1830 local time following the crash landing of a Boeing 777 passenger aircraft belonging to the airline at the Middle East hub.

More information on Emirates flights will be available on the Emirates website and social media channels.

All 282 passengers and 18 crew on board Flight EK521 are “accounted for and safe”, said Emirates adding: “We can confirm that there are no fatalities among our passengers and crew.”

Flight EK521 was travelling from Trivandrum International Airport in Thiruvananthapuram, India, to Dubai.

The Dubai-based airline continued: "We are doing everything we can to help passengers re-book flights. Emirates commercial passengers and Skywards members who had purchased tickets on or before 3rd August 2016 will have rebooking; re-issue; and cancellation charges waived."

Dubai Airports said: "Dubai International resumed operations at 1830 hours UAE local time yesterday (Wednesday) under restricted capacity and has since continued to operate with one runway, while maximising the use of the runway at Dubai World Central.

"Operational teams across the terminals at DXB and DWC are doing their best to assist arriving and departing passengers.

"Due to reduced capacity we are having to prioritise arriving and departing flights to make the best use of available runway to clear the backlog."
