Growth in the use of electronic air waybills (e-AWB) slowed in October making any hopes of hitting IATA useage targets now look forlorn.
The latest IATA figures show that in October e-AWB penetration edged up by one percentage point compared with a month earlier to 35.1%.
This follows two months in a row of increases exceeding the two percentage point mark, which had given some hope that IATA’s 45% useage target by the end of 2015 could still be met.
However, with only two months of the year left, it looks unlikely that the e-AWB useage will increase by the ten percentage points needed to hit target.
IATA said: "American Airlines has doubled its e-AWB penetration in the past four months reaching 30.0% e-AWB penetration in October.
"Delta Air Lines continues to progress reaching 65.6% in October. From a freight forwarder perspective, Yusen has increased by 5.4% from the previous month."
