The steady increase in global e-air waybill (e-AWB) penetration fell for the first time in March, according to the latest IATA report published on 26 April. The figures showed that be-AWB penetration of total airfreight shipments at 37.1%, compared with 37.5% in February, the first month-on-month decline for 12 months.
However, total e-AWB volume, at 584,344, was the highest for 12 months.
Within the overall figure, there were significant increases in e-AWB penetration on India (47.5% in March versus 45.4% in February) and in Taiwan (44.5% vs 39.7%). Major declines were seen in Hong Kong (67.1% vs 71.1%), China (26.6% vs 30.6%) and Korea (41.6% vs 44.6%).
