DHL Express and law firm Linklaters are partnering on the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce emissions generated by air shipments in Asia and UAE.
The law firm adopted firmwide carbon reduction targets to meet by April 2030 - approved by the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) - including reducing emissions.
To help meet the targets, Linklaters has joined DHL Express' GoGreen Plus which allows companies to reduce scope three emissions (those generated by third-party suppliers) by specifying how much SAF it would like to utilise on its time-definite international shipments.
DHL claimed that SAF can reduce lifecycle emissions of typical aviation fuel emissions by up to 70-80%.

Companies are now more committed than ever to reducing their environmental impact, thus it is important that we provide them with feasible solutions to do so.
"SAF is our key lever to improve carbon emissions, and we are proud to be the first global express courier to enable our customers to do.”
DHL Express launched its GoGreen Plus service earlier this year. It has committed to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 and has an interim target of using 30% SAF for all air transport by 2030.
The company said that 90% of its carbon footprint is derived from its air network.
To help achieve the target, DHL has signed two of the largest-ever SAF deals with bp and Neste, who will supply DHL with more than 800m litres of the fuel until 2026.
