DHL Express has donated Ohio’s Wilmington Air Park to the local Clinton County Port Authority. The airport and its 1,500 acres of land have been valued at $62.2 million.When DHL moved out of the park the town lost 8,000 jobs and the authority is hoping to draw new employers to the park and so revitalise the local community.“The impact of this closing has had a regionwide impact, so we want to make sure we can not only just create jobs here, but in the surrounding area,” said Wilmington’s mayor, David Raizk. “Our best asset is we have an absolutely great work force that is highly skilled and motivated,” said Raizk.Raizk said that “there has been a lot of interest” in the air park but that it is too “premature” to reveal who.However, records reveal the top three firms or groups of firms interested in marketing the air park for re-use are: Landrum & Brown and Aeroterm; Jones Lang LaSalle; and Edaw & Aecom in collaboration with ERA, CB Richard Ellis, McGill Smith Punshon and MSI.
