Delta Cargo has rebranded its international product mix to align with SkyTeam Cargo, providing customers with a common product portfolio across the global airline alliance.
The Atlanta-headquartered carrier has introduced the new product categories of General, Express, Critical and Specialized, but only the names have changed – there are no changes being made to the actual products.
“By rebranding our international products to align with our SkyTeam Cargo partners, it is now easier for our customers to do business with all 12 member airlines,” remarked Delta Cargo vice president Shawn Cole.
“With SkyTeam, we offer consistent service and handling to over 850 destinations in 175 countries,” Cole pointed out.
Effective as of now, Delta Cargo’s international product range has rebranded to the following categories:
- General, formerly known as Dimension, moves all commodities that do not require special handling
- Express, formerly called Equation, is a solution for small packages and goods that need to be shipped urgently
- Critical/Critical Heavy, formerly Equation Critical, is only available on Delta. It is a premium GPS-enabled service for the transportation of highly time-sensitive shipments that must travel on the next available flight, offers GPS tracking on deltacargo.com and moves with the highest priority across Delta’s global network
- Specialized is used for shipping unique items, giving a wide range of options for atypical cargo or high-value products, such as pharmaceuticals, live animals, dangerous goods, perishables and automotive parts
Coming together
Delta Cargo is seeking to benefit from synergies with other freight carriers where it can profitably do so. Last month (January), it announced that it and Virgin Atlantic Cargo will move their handling operations at London Heathrow to the new purpose-built dnata City East.
The move to the new facility is scheduled for the second half of 2019.
Customers will benefit from, “greater automation and faster truck and cargo handling times”, the airlines said. The move will also support their “growing cargo businesses, enhances their trans-Atlantic partnership for customers, and future-proofs the joint venture’s position in the UK market”.
Virgin and Delta’s cargo operations have been combined under a one-roof strategy in the UK since June 2016.
