Freight forwarder Dachser is adding dedicated charter flights from China to the US as it looks to offset the ongoing air cargo capacity crunch.
The company said that effective immediately, it will charter several B777 passenger flights via American Airlines with flights departing from both Hong Kong and Shanghai and arriving at Los Angeles.
There are three flights still to take place on May 20, 21 and 29.
"Even in this uncertain marketplace, we continue to see consistent demand for airfreight service from China to the US," said Andy Frommenwiler, vice president airfreight Dachser USA. Adding these charters, which ensure capacity, offers our customers a reliable, intelligent solution that ensures cargo will get to its final destination on time.”
Dachser said that it also offers a US road network for transport to major markets throughout the country.
Earlier this year, the company expanded its existing freighter charter flight network to include flights to the US and Latin America through its Frankfurt hub.
Other forwarders have also added charter flights as they try to head off a capacity crunch related to swathes of passenger operations being removed from the market following the Covid-19 pandemic.
