Germany-based Dachser Air & Sea Logistics division has entered the Swedish market, opening an office for air and sea freight shipping in Gothenburg. It will also handle rail transport, as well as customs clearance and warehousing.
The office will work with Dachser’s Swedish road transport operation, which operates from four offices in Sweden. Dachser can now offer its existing and potential customers the full portfolio of multimodal logistics services in the country.
Dachser has eight employees at the new location in Gothenburg, and plans to increase this complement to 20 air and sea shipping specialists “in the long run”.
“For us, Dachser Air & Sea Logistics Sweden is a further investment in our global air and sea freight network and a way to build up our position in the Scandinavian market,” declared Jochen Müller, chief operating office, Air & Sea Logistics.
The new facility adds to Dachser’s offices handling air and sea freight shipping in Denmark (at Kolding and Copenhagen) and Finland (in Helsinki and at three other locations).
But, “Our new office in Gothenburg lets us offer our Swedish customers access via Dachser to global markets,” Müller added.
Anna Bergdahl, the new Dachser country manager for air and sea freight in Sweden, observed: “In the long run, interlocking with our overland transport activities will make us a strong service provider in Scandinavia and put us in a position to offer customers all our services.”
With 30,600 employees at 399 locations to be found around the world, Dachser handled 83.7m shipments weighing a total of 41.3m tonnes last year.
