COLOMBIAN national carrier Avianca returns to the UK market next month with the resurrection of direct air links between its hub at El Dorado International, Bogotá and London Heathrow.

The airline is re-starting a four-times-weekly service on the route from July 3, using an A330-200.

It will be the sole direct air link between Colombia and the UK.

Avianca last served London in the 1990s.

Avianca's chief executive Fabio Villegas notes: "The opening of the London-Bogota route is in response to the increasingly close relationship between the two nations, as evidenced by the fact that the UK is currently the second largest investor in Colombia.”

UK cargo sales are managed by airline management outsource company ANA Aviation Services.
