China Southern looks set to expand its freighter fleet with an additional two Boeing 777F aircraft.
The fast-growing airline announced in late February that it would convert an order for two passenger B777-300ERs into freighter aircraft, with the aircraft due to be delivered in 2020.
In an investor announcement, the airline said: "The Directors (including the independent non-executive directors) consider that the revised acquisition is in line with the company's fleet planning, which helps to flexibly respond to changes in the passenger and freight markets and to better address the company's market demand, and in turn enhances the Company's market competitiveness."
At this stage it is not clear whether the aircraft will replace any of its existing fleet of 12 B777Fs and two B747-400Fs. The order, originally placed in October 2017, also includes six B777-300ER and 30 B737-8 aircraft.
