CHAMP Cargosystems has joined the Animal Transportation Association (ATA) to develop a close collaboration with experts in the specialist sector and to work on next generation information systems.

The cargo IT systems specialist said that CHAMP’s innovation team has been developing new animal transportation solutions with the objective of improving the communication between the shipper, forwarding agent, and airline.

Ultimately, the information flow and data will allow tracking and monitoring real-time the safety and wellbeing of the animal transported.

“The ATA is convinced that the logistics industry must raise the bar and put high standards for animal transportation since the comfort and safety of the precious animals is our number 1 priority,” said Filip Vande Cappelle, president at the association.

“There has not been much development in animal transportation in the last few years. The way we currently ship animals is still the same as 10 or 20 years ago."

CHAMP chief executive Arnaud Lambert said: “We strongly believe that close cooperation with business associations plays a critical role in delivering better value to the industry.

“We are eager to share our technological and domain expertise with the ATA and its members, toward safer and more efficient animal transport, to not only benefit the industry as a whole but more importantly to benefit the animals themselves.”
