On March 7, the Competition Commission of India penalised three airlines for fixing fuel surcharges on air cargo transport.
Jet Airways, InterGlobe Aviation and Spice Jet were fined Rs39.81 crore, Rs9.45 crore and Rs5.10 crore respectively for fixing and revising fuel surcharge rates in contravention of an act that prohibits anti-competitive agreements, including cartels.
Express Industry Council of India originally filed information against Air India and Go Airlines (India), as well as the three carriers that were found to have misused fuel surcharges.
