Caribbean Airlines Cargo will add extra freighter services to cater for rising demand over the Christmas period.
The Trinidad & Tobago-headquartered airline said that between December 2 and 24, it will increase its cargo capacity by over 100% with additional daily freighter flights to accommodate delivery commitments to its customers.
This increased capacity from Miami includes: six weekly flights to Piarco International Airport (Monday to Saturday), five weekly flights to Norman Manley International Airport (Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sun), two weekly flights to Cheddi Jagan International Airport (Wednesday and Saturday) and two weekly flights to Grantley Adams International Airport (Tuesday and Friday).
During the peak season customers are encouraged to book their cargo at least one week in advance, or as a minimum, three days prior to the flight date.
Customers will have the option to apply “priority” status to their cargo, which will guarantee “must ride” shipping on a requested date.
"Priority shipping attracts a fee of 15% of the standard all in shipping rates," the airline said. "A peak season surcharge of 5% of the shipping rate will also be applied to all shipments originating out of Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York and Toronto.
Earlier this week, the carrier launched a loyalty programme for cargo customers.
The airline's freighter fleet consists of Boeing 737-800 and ATR72-600 aircraft.
