CAL Cargo B747 at Oslo Airport Feb 2019

CAL Cargo is adding a second weekly rotation to its Oslo freighter service on the back of demand for Norwegian seafood in Israel.

The extra Liege-Oslo-Tel Aviv B747F frequency will start on March 1 and follows on from the launch of services to the Nordic hub in 2017. From Liege, CAL offers connections from JFK, Atlanta, Mexico City, Tel Aviv and Larnaca.

The new departure will be on Fridays, adding 3,500 tons of seafood capacity from Oslo airport to Israel annually.

Avinor director of cargo Martin Langaas said: “We are very pleased that CAL has decided to increase their capacity from the largest freighter hub in Northern Europe. Israel is a significant importer of fresh Norwegian seafood, such as salmon, which requires short shelf life. It’s therefore essential that we can facilitate fast and efficient delivery from Norway to Israel in collaboration with CAL.

Offer Gilboa, CAL chairman, added: "CAL is pleased to launch the second weekly flight to OSL and we are looking forward to offer even better connectivity to Israel with our new Friday departure from Norway. This will strengthen the existing relationship with the seafood industry."
