Alibaba's logistics arm, the Cainiao Smart Logistics Network, has said it will quadruple its charter network as part of efforts to speed up delivery times.
The company said that it planned to increase charter flights from 260 to 1,260 over the next nine months to help bring delivery times down from 10 days currently to between five-three days.
In the past, the company has utilised Atran and Avistar-TU to carry out flights.
Alibaba has stated in the past that it aims to bring its delivery times down to 24 hours within China and 72 hours internationally.
There are also plans to double overseas warehouse space to around 2m sq m.
The expanded capacity will help expedite the 30m China-bound goods that are processed by the logistics platform every day.
"Meanwhile, small and medium-sized businesses will also be able to leverage the additional warehouse space to pre-stock their products for export and fulfill their orders faster," Alibaba's news service said.
