Lufthansa Technik has erected an inflatable hangar at Budapest Airport to protect its aircraft engineers from Hungary’s winter weather.

The existing hangar capacity for Lufthansa Technik Budapest – housing up to five mid-size aircraft simultaneously – has proved insufficient because of its winter business bookings.

The dimensions of the additional hangar – with a floor-space of up to 4,000 sq m - allow for the indoor parking of an A320 or B737. The facility has already withstood winds of 70-80 km/hour and is expected to be in place for at least six months at the central European hub.
