UPS has appointed Bill Moore as president of UPS Airlines, effective October 1.

Moore will manage UPS’s global air operations as well as UPS Worldport, the company’s global air hub in Louisville, Kentucky.

Previously, as president of UPS Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering, Moore was responsible for ensuring the airline ran smoothly, with a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, fleet reliability and aircraft performance.

“Bill’s going to be an outstanding leader for UPS Airlines. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the position,” said Nando Cesarone, UPS executive vice president and president US.

“We’re confident his excellent track record leading our aircraft maintenance and engineering teams will serve him well in ensuring we remain a global leader in safety and performance.”

Jim Joseph, the airline’s current president, will take on a new role in advancing the company’s "Better and Bolder" strategy.

Joseph has served as president of UPS Airlines for the last year and a half. In his new role, he will lead UPS’s efforts to build out the company’s "Network of the Future".

UPS said the initiative will "use the latest technology and automation to serve customers faster and more efficiently while maintaining world-class service levels and an uncompromising commitment to safety".

“Jim is an incredible leader who has played a major role in the expansion of our weekend service offerings, time-in-transit improvements and the deployment of multiple operational technologies that bolstered our service capabilities,” Cesarone said.

“During his tenure as president of UPS Airlines, he’s continued his focus on safety and reliability, helping us maintain the highest levels of trust with our customers. We look forward to his leadership in advancing the Better and Bolder chapter of our strategy.”
