Air Transport Services Group, Inc’s (ATSG) leasing subsidiary Cargo Aircraft Management (CAM) has delivered a Boeing 767-300 freighter aircraft to Georgian Airways.
Georgian Airways offers scheduled, charter and regular flights across Europe, the Baltic region, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Region, the Middle East, eastern and southern Asia.
The 767-300 is a newly converted freighter, and it was delivered under a multi-year lease earlier this month (July).
With a 767-300 passenger aircraft also having been delivered to the Tbilisi-based carrier in June, David Gaiashvili, the airline’s general director, said the lease of the two aircraft represented a “deepening of the partnership” between Georgian Airways and ATSG.
“Founded over three decades ago, Georgian Airways has established itself as a trusted leader in the aviation industry with a steadfast commitment to safety and a relentless pursuit of excellence,” he declared.
“We are looking forward to growing with ATSG following its great experience and expertise in the industry.”
Mike Berger, chief executive of ATSG, added: “These leases reflect the growing demand for global air capacity and reinforce our Lease+Plus strategy, providing comprehensive, reliable, and flexible leasing solutions for our global customers.”
The deal “validates the value ATSG brings to the leasing market”, he said, noting: “Medium widebody freighters like the Boeing 767 and Airbus A330 are ideal for cargo airlines based in Eastern Europe and Western Asia.
“The geographic location of Tbilisi is an excellent mid-point for goods flowing out of China and ultimately destined for Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East."
Earlier this month (July), Uzbekistan-based airline My Freighter confirmed that it will lease two more 767-300 passenger to freighter (P2F) aircraft from ATSG subsidiary Airborne Global Leasing.
The addition of these two aircraft will expand the Tashkent-hubbed airline’s ATSG-leased fleet to five 767-300P2Fs as part of efforts to connect trading hubs along the silk road from China to Europe.
ATSG offers leasing and cargo and passenger air transportation solutions for domestic and international air carriers, as well as companies seeking outsourced airlift services.
Its fleet includes Boeing 767 as well as Airbus 321, and A330 converted freighters. Its Lease+Plus aircraft leasing product draws upon a range of subsidiaries including three airlines holding separate and distinct US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 121 Air Carrier certificates to provide air cargo lift, passenger ACMI and charter services.
