All Nippon Airways (ANA) is expanding its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) programme in response to requests from shippers.
The Japan-headquarter airline previously only issued emission reduction certificates for its SAF programme to freight forwarders and logistics companies that have a contract with the airline.
However, shippers will now also be able to collect the certificates from the airline.
"This will allow companies to earn scope three certificates and help them achieve their environmental goals and add value to their business and products," ANA said.
Toshiaki Toyama, chairman of ANA Cargo, said: "Our SAF Flight Initiative is a critical component of ANA's strategy to reduce carbon emissions in our own operations and be a catalyst for other businesses looking to become more sustainable.
"Global warming has become a business continuity risk far beyond our imagination. Against this backdrop, there is growing demand for more transparency and disclosure on climate-related information and measures throughout the value chain."
