All Nippon Airways (ANA) has suspended its cargo joint venture (JV) contracts with United Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo "due to the future restructuring of our cargo business".

The Japanese airline is in the process of acquiring freighter operator Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) from logistics group NYK.

ANA ended the JV contracts on September 30, according to investor relations filings on the ANA Group's website dated September 29.

These documents stated that the JV contract with Lufthansa Cargo began in 2014, and the JV contract with United Airlines began in 2015.

"The impact on our consolidated financial performance due to this contract suspension is insignificant," said ANA Holdings in both documents.

It was recently announced that the transfer of NCA from NYK to ANA has been delayed until next year.

NYK said the delay was due to the time it would take for competition authorities to examine the deal.

According to Cirium fleets data, Nippon Cargo Airlines has a fleet of eight in-service Boeing 747-8 freighters.
