AMI has responded to India’s ex-works purchasing demand with a new service that enables forwarders to “optimise the arrival time of their customers’ imports”.

The trade-only airfreight and express wholesaler’s ex-works service provides door to airport transportation from any non-restricted origin point in the world, to any airport in India.

The service caters for virtually any commodity except perishables, and users can choose between direct expedited service, or an economy consolidated option.

The new ex-works service is available only to bona fide freight agents.

AMI chief executive Stephen Koller said: “Indian buyers are increasingly focused on professional inventory management, and are using ‘just in time’ services to provide better coordination of goods flows to support sales promotions and accommodate peaks in demand.

“We have now combined the advantages of buying ex-works, with the traditional benefits of using AMI: guaranteed neutrality and significant cost savings. In addition, freight agents in India using the service are billed locally, avoiding the need to remit funds to an overseas agent. We are also able to provide enhanced tracking information, and this is available online 24/7.”
