Airfreight and express wholesaler AMI says that its online booking portal has handled 100,000 quotes since it was launched six months ago in late 2015.
Quote & Book has also doubled AMI’s live customer base, maintaining a 15% conversion ratio to firm bookings since its launch, as well as those for telephone enquiries and calls to AMI’s Spot Rates team. It has also enabled allowed AMI staff to give more time to complex quotes.
The Quote and Book site is modelled on AMI’s existing Express click2ship model, launched in 2010, and is only accessible to pre-approved agent customers. By entering shipment details, it generates immediate quotes for consolidation and direct air waybill (AWB) services, on multiple carriers.
Other services such as nationwide collections, house AWB production, customs entries and security screening can also be requested. Prices appear as all-inclusive, but can be broken down; and quotes can be printed, emailed or stored on the system for subsequent retrieval to convert to a booking.
Quote and Book embodies a live chat facility directly links to AMI’s Customer Services department if needed.
AMI vice president Europe, Sharon Wright said Quote & Book is now handling nearly 60% of all AMI’s quote requests. She added: “Customer feedback has also been excellent. Users like the speed and accuracy of the system, which enables them to be more responsive to their own customers, improving their prospects of securing new business.”
