Dubai-headquartered cargo airline SolitAir is gaining pace since starting operations last year with routes to Bangalore, India and Erbil, Iraq launched this month.
SolitAir Holding said in a LinkedIn post on 31 January that the scheduled carrier’s inaugural flight to Bangalore took place on 30 January: ”Yesterday, SolitAir launched its first flight to Bangalore!”
As well as Bangalore and Erbil, the airline also launched flights to Riyadh late last year.
According to SolitAir’s LinkedIn profile, there are plans for the airline to operate flights in Africa; the Middle East Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman; the Indian Subcontinent and the “Stan” countries - Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
At the end of last year, it was announced that ASL Airlines Ireland would operate 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCF) in partnership with SolitAir.
"We are delighted to announce our new partnership with SolitAir. Through this collaboration, ASL Airlines Ireland will initially position Boeing 737-800BCF freighters in the region,” said ASL at the time.
"ASLIreland will operate these aircraft from SolitAir’s hub in Dubai World Central (DWC), serving a scheduled network across the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and Africa.
"This exciting venture marks a significant step for ASLI, and we are confident it will lead to a long-term collaboration, opening the door to further opportunities in this dynamic region.”
According to Planespotters, ASL is currently operating two converted 737-800BCFs delivered in September and December last year and is due to begin operating a third 737-800 this year.
SolitAir Holding stated in its profile that it aims to be a ”technology company with air transportation on top”.
