Saudia Cargo has successfully attained IATA’s CEIV Fresh certification to support its growing perishables business.

The certification confirms the airline’s capability to handle temperature-sensitive perishable goods to IATA’s globally recognised standard.

"We are proud to announce that Saudia Cargo has successfully attained the IATA CEIV Fresh certification,” said the airline in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday.

“This achievement represents our third milestone in the CEIV journey, further solidifying our dedication to excellence, safety, and innovation.”

In March, Saudia Cargo reported an increase in date volumes over the past year on the back of rising demand for the fruit from Saudia Arabia.

The CEIV Fresh certification is based on the Perishable Cargo Regulations, establishing baseline standards and best practices with the aim of ensuring supply chain partners efficiently manage time and temperature to prevent food loss.

It provides organisations with the opportunity to become a centre of excellence for perishable logistics.

Saudia Cargo also has IATA's CEIV Li-batt certification and CEIV Pharma certification.

As well as its CEIV Fresh certification, Saudia Cargo has been busy expanding its network in recent months. The airline has added a new route between Liege (LGG) in Belgium and King Fahd International (DMM) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The airline has added flights between Zhengzhou Xinzheng International (CGO) in China and LGG.
