An Ethiopian Airlines freighter has been seriously damaged after skidding off the runway at Kotoka International Airport in Ghana on January 10.
The B737-400F, which was operating a flight from Lome for Togo-based carrier ASKY, reportedly skidded off the runway with burst tyres. The aircraft suffered damage and its starboard engine was ripped off.
The three-person flight crew all escaped without serious injuries.
ASKY is a pan-West African carrier and leases all its aircraft from Ethiopian. The latest incident is the second serious crash involving a cargo plane at Kotoka. In 2012, a Nigerian Cargo plane skidded off the runway and hit a bus, killing ten people.
