Boeing has confirmed a total of 11 777 freighters were ordered in March, three from a mystery customer(s).

The aircraft manufacturer’s Airplane Gross Orders report for March shows FedEx ordered eight 777Fs last month, while an unidentified customer(s) ordered a further three units of the cargo aircraft.

The eight 777Fs ordered by FedEx were reported by Air Cargo News last month, however, the US aircraft manufacturer has not announced any details about the sale of the other three 777Fs.

In an investor release in March, FedEx said it had exercised options to purchase an additional eight 777Fs as part of its fleet modernisation programme.

Three of the aircraft are expected to be delivered in 2026 and the remaining five in 2027.

As well as the 11 777Fs ordered in March, Boeing also secured an order(s) for two 777Fs in January, again from an unidentified customer(s).

Boeing recorded a total of 35 777F orders last year.

2024’s tally of 35 777F orders is a turnaround from 2023 when 777F orders amounted to 10. In fact, last year's orders levelled up with the pandemic boom years for air cargo.

There were 35 777F orders in 2022, while in 2021 there were 42. In 2020 there were 13 and in 2019 there were 17.

Data shows that 13 777Fs were delivered last year.
