Air Canada Cargo has added Dublin to its list of e-air waybill origins as it continues to push for an increase in their use.
The airline said the ability to offer the option of e-AWB comes as it increases the frequency of flights from the Irish capital to its Toronto hub to 11 times per week in line with the summer season.
It added that using e-AWB bills would save customers time and money because they would no longer need to print, sign, sort or archive the paper documents.
E-AWBs also offered greater accuracy and confidentiality, it said.
The Canadian airline has more than doubled its use of e-AWBs over the last 12 months; with their use increasing to 28.4% in May this year from 14.2% a year ago.
In IATA’s list of top 50 e-AWB airlines, Air Canada ranked number 21 in May. Its penetration level of 28.4% is slightly ahead of the industry average of 27.9% recorded for the month.
IATA has set the industry the target of reaching a penetration level of 45% by the end of the year.
