Agility has opened a Pharmaceutical Competence Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Experts from the logistics specialist are trained to the pharma industry’s Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards developed by the World Health Organization and European Union, covering procurement, purchasing, storage, distribution, transportation, repackaging, relabelling, documentation and customs clearance.
Middle East-owned Agility aims to tap into major economic and healthcare reforms in Brazil that will require higher standards for healthcare logistics. Senior vice president for global business development, Mohammed Esa, said: “These companies know how important it is to establish procedures that are compliant with GDP standards and with ever-changing local, national and international regulations."
Brazil chief executive of Agility Global Integrated Logistics, Ricardo Sapag, added: “Pharma customers will have the peace of mind knowing that all government requirements for their shipments have been met and that administrative cost and effort on their part will be reduced to a minimum.”
Agility already operate similar pharma centres in Basel, Dubai and Mumbai, as well as a network of specialized pharma offices across Europe.
