IN an incident sadly reminiscent of an air cargo crash earlier this year another African freighter has left a runway on landing killing 32 people.

The cause of the accident both accidents has not been officially established but wet weather and a rough airstrip is thought to have contributed.

According to AFP the incident on Saturday involving an Ilyushin freighter aircraft as it came into land during a storm at Brazzaville Airport.

The earlier incident involved a 727-200F hitting a bus and killing 10 happened in June as it came into Kotoka International, Ghana in very wet weather.

This news is a fresh blow to the Africa’s safety reputation.

IATA is among the bodies who have campaigned to improve safety on the continent – with rough airstrips among their concerns.
