Miami-headquartered Aeronautical Engineers, Inc has inked a contract to provide two CRJ200 SF freighter conversions to the Pinnacle Partners group of companies.
The first CRJ200 is expected to begin the modification process this month (November), with re-delivery scheduled for March next year.
The second aircraft will begin the modification process in December, with re-delivery scheduled for April.
Both modification processes will be undertaken at passenger-to-freighter conversion specialist Commercial Jet’s Dothan, Alabama facility, one of five authorised AEI Conversion Centers worldwide.
Alden Crowley, chief executive of Pinnacle Partners, said: “We believe the CRJ200 freighter is a great solution for short-haul freight operations and plan to acquire another two CRJ200 aircraft for cargo conversion in 2018.”
Prior to the first two CRJ200 SF aircraft entering regular revenue service, the freighters will be utilised by Another Joy Foundation to transport humanitarian aid from the US to Puerto Rico as part of the humanitarian relief effort mounted in the wake of Hurricane Maria.
AEI currently has firm orders and commitments for over 45 CRJ200 SF freighter conversions.
Since the company’s founding in 1958, AEI has developed nearly 130 supplemental type certificates (STCs) and has modified more than 440 aircraft with those STCs.
AEI currently offers passenger-to-freighter conversions for the Boeing 737-400, 737-300, 737-200, MD-80 and CRJ200 aircraft. AEI also plans to certify a 737-800 full freighter conversion.
