AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) has flown two Boeing 747-8F charter flights from Milan to Port Moresby carrying 40 new Maserati Quattroporte cars on behalf of freight forwarder Agility Logistics (Italy).

The cars will be used to carry attendees at this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2018 forum, being held in New Guinea.

Twenty cars were loaded onto each B747-8F under the supervision of ABC loadmasters for their journey to Southeast Asia, where they will provide high-end chauffeuring services during the APEC conference.

“It is not the first time we have worked with Agility Logistics to transport Maserati cars and we are delighted to have been given this latest opportunity to provide another red-carpet service for these luxury sports vehicles,” said Sergey Lazarev, ABC’s general director.

“With the special procedures and processes we have in place, as well as the availability and expertise of ABC’s loading specialists, the ‘head-to-toe’ preliminary work completed ahead of both charter flights ensured they were operated in full compliance with the customer’s and the shipper’s requirements.

“We continue to see growth in demand for our services from the automotive industry as well as from customers across all of the major sectors we support and this puts us on course for another successful year of growth,” Lazarev declared.

Over the course of the first eight months of 2018, ABC transported more than 40,000 tonnes of automotive cargo and spare parts.
