Freight forwarding giant DSV has appointed Stefan Krikken as its new head of airfreight.

In his new role, he will have global responsibility for the airfreight product including procurement.

Krikken joined DSV in 2019 following the company’s takeover of Panalpina. Most recently he occupied the role of airfreight procurement head for North America based out of New York.

Prior to working for DSV, Krikken spent more than 11 years at Panalpina in a variety of airfreight roles, including regional airfreight trade lane manager for the Americas.

“In my new role, I will be responsible for overseeing global air procurement, optimising the air product and driving strategic initiatives to enhance DSV global airfreight capabilities,” he said.

“I look forward to continuing to grow the relationships with our customers, airline partners, suppliers and colleagues to elevate the DSV air product to the next level.”

The previous head of airfreight, Mads Ravn, was made DSV Air and Sea president for North America in May after more than 10 years in the role.

“I have worked for the US organisation since 1997 and have had to pleasure to work for and with my three predecessors,” said Ravn.

“All with a different style of management, but with the same goal of always thriving for more. I will continue a similar approach to my new assignment while remaining humble and focused on our customers’ expectations of excellence.

“I am grateful for the trust placed in me by the leadership and look forward to shifting my focus to the North American organisation.”

DSV airfreight volumes up 2.3% in Q1 but profit falls with rates
