Philadelphia International Airport will purchase land adjacent to the airport as part of plans to develop a 546,000 sq m air cargo complex.

The purchase of the 61,000 sq m plot will cost $5.5m and requires city approval.

The Investment comes as the airport hopes to capitalise on the growing e-commerce market and the region's pharma sector.

Construction work is expected to start next year with new facilities operational by 2020.
