Bolloré Africa Logistics has been rebranded as Africa Global Logistics (AGL) following its acquisition by container shipping giant MSC.
The acquisition was completed at the end of 2022 and included all the Bolloré Group's shipping, logistics and terminal operations on the continent.
At the time the deal was announced, Bolloré Africa Logistics claimed to be the largest transport and logistics operator in Africa, where it has a network of 250 subsidiaries and almost 21,000 employees in 49 countries, including 47 in Africa.
Much of its business is centred around shipping; it is present in 42 ports and operates in 16 container terminal concessions, seven ferry terminals, two wood terminals and a river terminal, and undertakes conventional stevedoring activity.
In logistics, the company has a presence in 47 countries and manages all administrative and customs procedures for its customers both before and after transportation, for import and export, and manages the carriage of goods to their final destination.
AGL chief executive Phillippe Labonne said: “We are pleased to begin this adventure within the MSC Group. This new brand reinforces our ambition to be a trusted logistics partner for our customers in Africa and around the world, while underlining our commitment to innovate and participate alongside Africa’s states and partners in the transformation of the continent.
"I am convinced that with the constant mobilisation of our teams, we will succeed in designing innovative solutions to create value for our customers and partners."
