Mammoth Freighters’ 777-200LR is being prepared for the initial stages of conversion at a US facility.
The Orlando, Florida-based freighter conversion company said in a LinkedIn post that the prototype will be the first of four 777-200LRMF freighter conversions that will be delivered to its launch customer Cargojet in Mississuaga, Ontario.
The aircraft is being modified at GDC Technics at Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mammoth added: “Our engineering and certification team expects to obtain Federal Aviation Administration approval in the second half of 2023 for its design to modify 777-200LR’s , with Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) expected in the first half of 2024 for the 777-300ERMF.”
Saudi Arabian Airlines placed an order with Mammoth Freighters for the conversion of seven Boeing 777 aircraft into an all-cargo configuration in May.
Mammoth Freighters announced its plans for Boeing 777-200LR and 777-300ER passenger-to-freighter conversion programmes in September 2021.
Cargojet became the launch customer for Mammoth’s B777-200LR freighter conversion programme in November 2021.
