Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. (AEI) is set to carry out three MD-88SF aircraft conversions for Michigan-based carrier USA Jet AIrlines, which is a subsidiary of Ascent Global Logistics.

As part of the deal, AEI will also have the option to carry out three additional MD-88SF conversions for the carrier.

The three initial MD-88SF freighter conversions will enable an increased payload capability and additional pallet positions, and will be used as part of a "significant expansion in domestic air capacity that Ascent Global Logistics is investing in over a multi-year period".

Aircraft modifications will be carried out by Commercial Jet in Alabama, which is an authorised AEI Conversion Center.

The first conversion will commence on this month, the second will start in May and the third will begin in August.

John Heaney, President of USA Jet Airlines, commented: “We are appreciative of AEI’s excellence in engineering capabilities, which are critical for our continued fleet expansion.”
