Lessor BBAM will further expand its freighter fleet with an order for six B737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters, with options for six more.
The agreement brings BBAM’s B737-800BCF orders and commitments to 15 and Boeing said also "highlights the continued strength of the e-commerce and express cargo market".
The aircraft offers around 23.9 tonnes of capacity and can fly up to 3,740 km. It is primarily used to carry express cargo on domestic and short-haul routes.
“As we look ahead to expanding our cargo fleet, the 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighter provides the performance and efficiency our customers need,” said Steve Zissis, chief executive of BBAM. “Adding these highly capable freighters to 276 Boeing airplanes in our managed fleet helps to further strengthen our leadership position in the marketplace.”
Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing, added: “The continued strong demand for the 737-800BCF demonstrates the critical role these converted freighters play in the growing express and e-commerce market.”
