Perishable logistics firm PML has "risen to the challenge" presented by the Covid-19 outbreak and has launched its air charter operation.

The company added that it is continuing its operations without having to make staff cutbacks.

Nick Finbow, sales director at PML, explained: "Our recently launched in-house charter airfreight service will play a key role in helping us ride out not only the coronavirus storm, but also the anticipated disruptions and new restrictions associated with Brexit.

"We are well placed to provide our customers with access to the very best supply chain routes, including additional specialist expertise in identifying the optimum air trade lanes to ensure a timely, seamless and methodically controlled transfer of temperature-controlled cargo."

PML also said its recent work included the signing of a contract with IPL (International Procurement & Logistics – part of the Asda/Walmart family), which involved it transporting melons from Spain to the UK, under temperature-controlled conditions, for distribution at Asda supermarkets.

Finbow added: "We are fortunate [enough] to have a well-established business, which means that over the years we have built up a network of contacts that have proved invaluable when faced with identifying new channels and transport solutions to overcome cancelled or rescheduled routes.

The family-owned business provides logistics solutions for import and export operations, and moves both perishable and non-perishable goods by air, sea and road.
