A walkout by 2,500 Heathrow airport workers due to take place today has been cancelled, but tomorrow's industrial action is still set to go ahead.

On Friday, members of Unite rejected the latest pay offer from the airport but later delayed plans for a strike today as talks continued.

IAG Cargo said that operations would continue as normal today but warned that strike action remained scheduled for tomorrow.

"We have robust contingency plans in place and we expect to fly booked cargo as planned," the company said.

"In the event that any customer shipments are affected by this action, they will be automatically re-booked. We’ll continually review the situation and update our customers."

Heathrow Airport last night said: "We continue talks with Unite tomorrow and remain hopeful that we can find a resolution putting a stop to this disruptive and unnecessary threat of strike action."

Two weeks ago, the union also called off a planned strike.
